Auto Accident
Auto Accident
Being involved in an accident can be scary and frustrating, especially automobile accidents. While some “minor” accidents may lead you to believe all is well, there may be “invisible” injuries that show up days or even weeks after the original injury. You should always consider your well-being after injuries, especially for those seemingly minor ones that may linger or become long-term issues if left untreated.
Surprisingly, most primary care providers turn away their own established patients who have been involved in an automobile accident and now present with related injuries. Here at Revive Health Associates, we can provide both primary care services as well as management of injuries. We will always take the time to properly evaluate any and all of your medical conditions, answer your questions, and utilize a holistic and integrative approach to help provide you with the care that you deserve.
Common Accident Injuries
Whiplash:
Whiplash is one of the most common complaints following an automobile accident. This hyperflexion/hyperextension injury may seem minor, but there can underlying damage to the ligaments, muscles, and/or tendons of the neck. This may result on long-term effects if not properly managed. These include:
Neck pain/stiffness
Decreased range of motion
Headaches & Dizziness
Shoulder pain
Upper back pain
Upper extremity pain/numbness/tingling
Back Pain:
Back pain is another common complaint following an accident. Often the seatbelt itself provides overall safety but may also promote soft-tissue injuries during the impact. Common injuries include:
Sprain/Strain
Intervertebral Disc Injury
Radiculopathies
Lower extremity pain/numbness/tingling
Considerations:
In the State of Florida, you only have 14 days following an automobile accident to seek care from a healthcare provider in order for your PIP insurance benefits to cover any care. Therefore, it is recommended that you schedule an appointment as soon as possible.
This can include an in-office visit or even a telehealth visit. The benefit of telehealth visit is that Dr. Roopnarine can still evaluate your injuries within the required 14-day period, order any necessary diagnostic tests, and prescribe any medication or treatments to help with the injury.
